Company Background

Having worked in blue chip companies for many years prior to raising children, we took the plunge and started our cleaning company in 2019 focussing on high end, luxury, detailed and systematic domestic and commercial cleans. Prior to this as clients, we had difficulty finding cleaners that wanted to ensure nothing was left undone and despite being happy to pay a large amount for the service, we found there was a gap in the market for people wanting a more in-depth clean and office staff that preferred more than a wipe and vacuum.

When we started recruiting, we found several cleaners were frustrated they were being rushed and not able to complete a job to a great standard, this was the catalyst for the incorporation of Derbyshire Domestic Services.

Over the next few years, we were approached on several occasions to remove mould, clean toxins, remove animal matter and on one occasion some needles from a client with medical needs. On each occasion we had to sadly refuse, since these services can be extremely risky and put our team in danger. Several of the team were interested in pursuing this however, so we sought professional guidance and found an accredited and highly regarded training centre for biohazardous cleaning. Thus, Derbyshire Biohazard was born and Derbyshire Domestic had to find new superstars before we could begin trading. Due to cross contamination risks and the difference in operating methods, we couldn't use the same staff, storage spaces and waste removal processes. Having completed the training it became apparent that the products, equipment and knowledge required are vastly different to commercial and domestic cleaning. We were also greatly concerned about maintaining positive mental health within the team since crime scene cleaning, hoarding and trauma cleaning can be alarming initially. We formed links with mental health coaches and ensure we work closely with our team.
